Designed to support and maintain mobility, long-held yin and restorative poses allow time and space for the work to penetrate the deeper connective tissues to release habitual holding patterns in the body. Most of us develop long-standing physiological patterns—habitual muscle tension, shallow breathing, heightened threat sensitivity—that arise from years of stress and repeated emotional experience. These patterns live in the body’s autonomic and interoceptive systems. “Talking it out” can clarify what’s happening, but it doesn’t always shift the physiology that keeps those patterns running. This practice uses interoceptive exposure: structured, supportive attention to internal sensations that helps retrain the brain’s threat responses. By meeting sensations directly—rather than avoiding or overriding them—you update old prediction loops and reduce the reactivity that once felt overwhelming. Through slow, intentional movement, regulated breathwork, meditation, and steady guidance, you’ll work with the physiological signatures of stress: reducing defensive activation, increasing autonomic flexibility, and strengthening the capacity to stay present with difficult states. Drawing on training in the Theravada Vipassana, Samatha, and Metta meditation traditions, Kyle teaches yoga as an embodied mindfulness practice, one that trains attention, softens reactivity, and gradually builds the capacity to see clearly, feel fully, and move through life with greater openness. That progression is the heart of what he holds for students. Yoga begins in the body. It gets therapeutic. And over time, if you let it, it becomes something closer to wisdom. Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, he traded hockey rinks for mountain trails and now spends his time outside the studio hiking, skiing, and reading with coffee somewhere quiet. He believes the studio is at its best when it feels like belonging, a place where being human together is enough.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Ashley began her yoga practice when a friend invited her to try a hot yoga class in 2012. Soon afterward Ashley fell in love with the physical, emotional, and mental benefits that yoga brought her. Ashley cites that she loves the strength of body and clarity of mind that yoga provides, and finds that her most challenging opportunities in class come when maintaining breath throughout sustained difficult postures. Ashley became a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) in January of 2016 through Power Yoga Academy in Bellingham. Her flows are typically varied from week to week and often focus on one or two main areas of the body or a theme relevant and helpful to students in class. Ashley would like to teach the importance of connecting body movement to breath as a moving meditation, and open the potential for each student to discover something they never before thought possible within their own bodies. When she's not teaching yoga, Ashley also works as a behavior analyst with children and adolescents on the autism spectrum and other behavioral, developmental, and neurological disorders. This work has provided her the opportunity to combine those two passions: working with children and yoga. Ashley began teaching child and adolescent yoga classes in 2019. Through children's yoga classes, she hopes to instill lifelong tools such as mindfulness and emotional intelligence (all while having fun) that she knows will empower each child across every aspect of life. When not teaching or practicing yoga, Ashley also enjoys camping, traveling, cooking and exploring with her husband, three children, and two dogs.</image:caption>

For over a decade, Liza has devoted herself to sharing her love of practice with others as an asana instructor, mentor, trainer, and retreat leader. In 2019, Liza felt honored to join the Bellingham Yoga Collective as a teacher and practitioner. Since 2020, she has supported the studio’s 200-hour YTT program as a lead faculty and content creator for the program’s manual. More recently, Liza has stepped into her role as Director of Programming for the training. Liza’s guides are functional alignment, creative process, human resilience, nature, and the source teachings of Yoga. Her vinyasa classes are lively, heartfelt, and sequenced to train skills and to build motor pathways around particular peak forms, while giving space for diverse expression. Her yin classes are invitations to take support, be with what is, and experience deep physical and mental unwinding and restoration. Liza’s students appreciate the originality, authenticity, and clarity of heart she brings to the mat.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Ashley began her yoga practice when a friend invited her to try a hot yoga class in 2012. Soon afterward Ashley fell in love with the physical, emotional, and mental benefits that yoga brought her. Ashley cites that she loves the strength of body and clarity of mind that yoga provides, and finds that her most challenging opportunities in class come when maintaining breath throughout sustained difficult postures. Ashley became a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) in January of 2016 through Power Yoga Academy in Bellingham. Her flows are typically varied from week to week and often focus on one or two main areas of the body or a theme relevant and helpful to students in class. Ashley would like to teach the importance of connecting body movement to breath as a moving meditation, and open the potential for each student to discover something they never before thought possible within their own bodies. When she's not teaching yoga, Ashley also works as a behavior analyst with children and adolescents on the autism spectrum and other behavioral, developmental, and neurological disorders. This work has provided her the opportunity to combine those two passions: working with children and yoga. Ashley began teaching child and adolescent yoga classes in 2019. Through children's yoga classes, she hopes to instill lifelong tools such as mindfulness and emotional intelligence (all while having fun) that she knows will empower each child across every aspect of life. When not teaching or practicing yoga, Ashley also enjoys camping, traveling, cooking and exploring with her husband, three children, and two dogs.</image:caption>
